Terms & Conditions
Please read these terms and conditions carefully before using Our Service.
1. Introduction
Welcome to Wizard Eats. These Terms and Conditions govern your use of our website and services. By accessing or using our website, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you disagree with any part of the terms, then you may not access the Service.
2. Accuracy of Information & Listings
We strive to provide accurate information regarding the Halal status of restaurants listed on our platform. This information is aggregated from publicly available data, user submissions, and independent research. However, Wizard Eats acts entirely as an independent directory. We cannot guarantee that all information is 100% accurate at all times, as restaurant policies, suppliers, certifications, and menus may change without notice.
For Users: We strongly recommend verifying the Halal status directly with the restaurant before dining if you have strict dietary requirements.
For Restaurant Owners: Listings and status classifications (including "Halal", "Partially Halal", or "Not Halal") are published in good faith as matters of public interest and informational guide. To the fullest extent permitted by the laws of England and Wales, Wizard Eats disclaims all liability for any direct or indirect economic loss, loss of profits, loss of potential business, or reputational damage arising from the presence, absence, or categorisation of your business on our platform.
Corrections are Easy: If you are the owner or authorised representative of a listed business and disagree with your restaurant's classification, corrections are quick and easy. We are highly responsive and committed to maintaining accurate records. Please contact us with appropriate verification or context, and we will promptly review, amend, or remove your listing without prejudice.
3. User Responsibilities
You are responsible for your use of the website and for any content you post, including reviews and restaurant suggestions. You agree not to use the service for any unlawful purpose or in any way that interrupts, damages, or impairs the service.
4. Intellectual Property
The Service and its original content, features, and functionality are and will remain the exclusive property of Wizard Eats and its licensors. The Service is protected by copyright, trademark, and other laws.
5. Links to Other Websites
Our Service may contain links to third-party web sites or services that are not owned or controlled by Wizard Eats. We have no control over, and assume no responsibility for, the content, privacy policies, or practices of any third party web sites or services.
6. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by the laws of England and Wales, in no event shall Wizard Eats, nor its directors, employees, partners, agents, suppliers, or affiliates, be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, including without limitation, loss of profits, data, use, goodwill, loss of business, reputation, or other intangible losses, resulting from (i) your access to or use of or inability to access or use the Service; (ii) any conduct or content of any third party on the Service; (iii) any content obtained from the Service; (iv) the classification, listing, or removal of any restaurant on the platform; and (v) unauthorized access, use or alteration of your transmissions or content, whether based on warranty, contract, tort (including negligence) or any other legal theory, whether or not we have been informed of the possibility of such damage, and even if a remedy set forth herein is found to have failed of its essential purpose. Nothing in these Terms excludes liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.
7. Indemnification
You agree to defend, indemnify and hold harmless Wizard Eats and its licensee and licensors, and their employees, contractors, agents, officers and directors, from and against any and all claims, damages, obligations, losses, liabilities, costs or debt, and expenses (including but not limited to legal fees), resulting from or arising out of a) your use and access of the Service, b) a breach of these Terms, or c) any claim from a third party (including restaurants) arising from content, claims, or reviews you submit to the Service.
8. Cookies & Click Tracking
8.1 What Cookies We Use
Our website uses a small number of cookies to operate effectively. These are:
- Cookie Consent Preference – A strictly necessary cookie that records whether you have accepted or declined cookies. It is stored for 30 days.
- Session Cookie – A temporary cookie used to maintain your browsing session while you use the site. It is deleted when you close your browser.
- Postcode Cookie – If you accept cookies, we may store a cookie containing your most recent postcode search to make future searches more convenient.
8.2 Click-Out & Interaction Tracking
When you interact with restaurant listings on our website — for example by clicking a phone number, map link, or website link — we record the following information to help us understand how the Service is used and to improve the quality and relevance of the information we provide:
- The type of interaction (Phone, Map, or Web)
- The restaurant name and postcode associated with the listing
- Your IP address (subject to anonymisation – see section 8.6 below)
- The date and time of the interaction
This data is collected solely for the purpose of analysing traffic patterns, understanding which listings are most useful to visitors, and improving the overall Service. It is not used to personally identify you, nor is it shared with, sold to, or otherwise disclosed to any third party.
8.3 Legal Basis (GDPR)
Under the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR), our legal bases for processing are as follows:
- Consent – Non-essential cookies (session and postcode cookies) are only set after you have given your explicit consent via our cookie banner. You may withdraw this consent at any time (see section 8.5 below).
- Legitimate Interest – Click-out interaction data is processed under our legitimate interest in understanding how the Service is used so that we can maintain, protect, and improve it. We have assessed that this processing does not override your rights and freedoms, given the limited and non-identifying nature of the data collected.
8.4 Data Retention
Cookie consent preferences are retained for 30 days. Click-out interaction data is retained for as long as is reasonably necessary to fulfil the analytical purposes described above, after which it is deleted. Server access logs (see section 8.7) are automatically purged every 30 days. We do not retain data for longer than is necessary.
8.5 Your Rights & Managing Consent
You have the right to:
- Withdraw consent – You may decline cookies at any time via the cookie banner or by clearing your browser cookies, which will cause the banner to reappear on your next visit.
- Request access – You may request details of any personal data we hold about you.
- Request erasure – You may request that we delete any personal data we hold about you.
- Lodge a complaint – If you are not satisfied with our handling of your data you have the right to lodge a complaint with the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO).
To exercise any of these rights, please contact us via our Contact Us page. By continuing to use the Service after accepting cookies, you acknowledge and agree that Wizard Eats shall not be held liable for the use of cookies and click-tracking data as described in this section, provided such use is carried out in accordance with these Terms and applicable data protection law.
8.6 Analytics & Performance
We use analytics tools to understand how visitors interact with our site. To protect your privacy, we have enabled IP Anonymisation. This means your IP address is shortened (e.g., 192.168.1.XXX) before being stored. This process happens before the data is written to disk, ensuring your full IP address is never stored in our analytics database.
8.7 Server Security & Hosting
For security purposes (such as preventing DDoS attacks or unauthorised login attempts), our server logs access requests. These logs include your IP address but are used strictly for security monitoring. They are stored on secure servers and are automatically purged every 30 days.
9. Changes to These Terms
We reserve the right, at Our sole discretion, to modify or replace these Terms at any time. By continuing to access or use Our Service after those revisions become effective, You agree to be bound by the revised terms.
